Spinal Pain

The optimum type of treatment will depend on the specific diagnosis. The approach of “one size fits all” is ineffective and research has shown that it leads to poor treatment outcome. For example, two different people may have low back pain with referred leg pain, one person’s pain might be aggravated by sitting and side bending and relieved by standing or walking, the other person’s pain may behave quite differently in being aggravated by standing/ walking and relieved by sitting.

Before commencing any treatment, an examination including a detailed history and physical examination will be carried out so that the optimum treatment can be commenced for you. Depending on your condition some or all of the following treatment options may be used; manual therapy to reduce pain and improve quality of movement, massage, stretching or strengthening exercises, core stability exercises, ergonomic advice, sports specific rehabilitation etc.
